Our Mission

To bring together the strengths of UT Southwestern in both basic research and clinical medicine to conquer kidney cancer.

Composition of Current Patients

Currently, through the Kidney Cancer Program, we have data for 1402 kidney cancer patients. A summary of these patients is shown below.

BMI: Body Mass Index. It is a measure of relative weight based on an individual's mass and height.

Kidney Cancer Explorer

The current available experimental results for these patients are summarized in the table below.

Kidney Cancer Program Total RNA-Seq1 Mutation2
Patients 1402 95 94

1. RNA-seq (RNA Sequencing): RNA-seq libraries were prepared using TruSeq RNA Sample Preparation kit (Illumina, CA). The libraries were multiplexed three per lane and sequenced on HiSeq 2000 to obtain at least ~50 million paired-end (2 x 75bp) reads per sample.

2. Mutation: The tumor/adjacent matched normal sample pairs from whole exome were used to identify somatic mutations.

Computational Analysis

Through the Kidney Cancer Program, we provide useful online analysis tools shown below.

Survival Analysis

Description: Provides Kaplan-Meier estimates of survival according to chosen variables.

Group Comparison

Description: Provides box plot representation of normalized values (such as gene expression) across different settings.

Correlation

Description: Provides unsupervised dendrogram representation about the relationship among variables.
