Two types of online resources:
The PCDC will offer online video and online document resources to tutor end users of how to
use our centralized tools and analysis tools, and where to find dictionary and code book.
Three types of training programs:
The PCDC will establish a training program open to the entire community at no cost, which benefits users with
more biological/clinical domain knowledge and tool usage knowledge.
(1) Monthly Nano Courses
PCDC will offer in-depth training in the theory and applications of data management and
informatics tools. The courses will target power users and/or developers and will typically last 1 or 2 days.
(2) Biweekly Tech Talks
PCDC will offer short tutorials on database designs, informatics tools, computation
algorithms, analysis methods and software packages, targeting the end user.
(3) Biweekly Data Clinic
This program will be an informal, open forum where scientists from across campus present open
questions in data analysis. Core staff will attend to provide on-the-spot advice. The discussions may turn into
follow‐up sessions and possibly formal interactions with PCDC through the above listed support programs.
The setup of the PCDC will provide a unique opportunity for the UTSW or even the greater Texas community to
learn medical informatics and its practical applications in pediatric cancer.
