Pediatric cancer has been emphasized as a specific target area for advancing precision medicine into clinical care by the NCI’s Moonshot initiative. Under Stephen Skapek’s leadership, UTSW launched the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Precision Medicine (PM) Program in 2017, and it is highly interlinked with the experimental therapeutics (ET) program. The PCDC will function as a hub to support all the components of both programs.

Investigators at UTSW/CMCD are actively engaged in clinical research through the Children’s Oncology Group and several other consortiums, maintaining a portfolio of approximately 75 clinical trials. Several UTSW/CMCD clinical researchers also express strong interest in using the PCDC to facilitate their clinical trials.
