Yang Xie, Ph.D.

Professor

Dr. Yang Xie holds the Raymond D. and Patsy R. Nasher Distinguished Chair in Cancer Research and is the Associate Dean for Data Sciences at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She is the founding director of the Quantitative Biomedical Research Center (QBRC), the Pediatric Cancer Data Commons (PCDC), and the Cancer Center Data Science Shared Resources (DSSR) at the Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Yang Xie received her training in biostatistics, medicine and epidemiology. Her research lab focuses on medical informatics, developing predictive and prognostic biomarkers, and precision medicine. She is currently the PI of an NIH Maximizing Investigators' Research Award (MIRA) grant, MPI of an NIAID U01 grant and PI of the Pediatric Cancer Data Core at CPRIT.

Guanghua Xiao, Ph.D.

Professor

Guanghua Xiao is a Professor at the O'Donnell School of Public Health and has secondary appointments in the Departments of Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He holds the Mary Dees McDermott Hicks Chair in Medical Science and leads the Health Data Sciences Ph.D. program at the school. With a focus on machine learning, spatial statistics, and high-dimensional data analysis, Dr. Xiao and his team have developed user-friendly software and tools for genomic and imaging data analysis. His current research includes AI methods for pathology imaging analysis and bioinformatics tools for spatial molecular profiling. Dr. Xiao is the PI or MPI on several research grants, funded by the National Cancer Institute (NCI), the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS), the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR), and the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT).

Tao Wang Ph.D.

Associate Professor

Associate Professor of the Quantitative Biomedical Research Center in the O'Donnell School of Public Health at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Dr. Wang's research revolves around using state-of-the-art bioinformatics and biostatistics approaches to study the implications of tumor immunology for tumorigenesis, metastasis, prognosis, and treatment response in a variety of cancers. Dr. Wang is affiliated with the Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Wang graduated from Peking University in China in 2011 and studied at UT Southwestern under the mentoring of Drs. Yang Xie and Guanghua Xiao. He became an Assistant Professor at UTSW after obtaining his Ph.D. in 2015, and became Associate Professor in 2023. Aside from his research and investigative work, Dr. Wang also enjoys movies, cooking, and sports with family and friends.
